What is gold filled?
Gold filled is not to be confused with gold plating. It has 100x more gold than your average plated jewelry. USA industry standards legally require 1/20th, or 5% pure gold by weight when producing gold filled. Rather than having a dipped layer of gold, gold filled is made with gold alloy that is pressure bonded onto a base metal in multiple layers. This results in gold filled being the closest resemblance to real gold and can last years if not decades when cared for properly. Gold filled works great with individuals who are prone to sensitivity and anyone who wants the look of solid gold without the price tag.
